Health ministry deploys 119 emergency volunteers to Aceh Tamiang

The Health Ministry has deployed 119 Health Reserve Personnel (TCK) Batch II volunteers to strengthen medical services for communities impacted by the flash flood disaster in Aceh Tamiang District, Aceh Province.

Tirta Muhammad Rizki, a support assistant for the volunteers, stated on Friday (January 9), that this batch of volunteers consists of medical professionals, health workers, and support staffs.

The team includes nine specialist doctors, 16 general practitioners, 59 nurses, four nutritionists, 12 environmental health workers, with the remaining personnel serving in non-health support roles.

"All volunteers will be assigned to 15 service locations, including the Aceh Tamiang Regional General Hospital, and 14 health service points in evacuation sites," Rizki stated.

He explained that assignments focus on ensuring optimal healthcare at both referral facilities and community shelters.

"We have divided the 119 volunteers across 15 locations. The Regional General Hospital serves as the main referral facility, which we are ensuring remains fully operational, while the other 14 points are located within evacuation sites for affected residents," Rizki added.

He mentioned that these multi-professional volunteers are responsible for addressing various health needs at the disaster site, ranging from basic and specialist medical services, nursing care, nutritional support, and environmental health management in evacuation areas.

"Collaboration between medical personnel, other health workers, and non-health workers is key in responding to the health crisis. We want to ensure that affected communities continue to receive safe, rapid, and sustainable health services," he pointed out.

The Health Ministry continues to monitor developments in Aceh Tamiang to ensure the availability of resources, as part of the government's commitment to protecting public health post-disaster.

Previously, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that the Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) data showed approximately 4,000 volunteers have registered to provide disaster relief across Sumatra.
