Bali issues heavy rain warning for Feb 24-26

  Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued alerts ranging from “watch” to “warning” for moderate to extreme rainfall across Bali from Feb. 24 to Feb. 26, 2026, officials said on Tuesday.

Putu Agus Dedy Permana, a forecaster at BMKG Regional Office III in Denpasar, said the agency applies three alert levels: watch for moderate to heavy rain, standby for heavy to very heavy rain, and warning for very heavy to extreme rain.

On Tuesday, warning-level rain is forecast in the districts of Badung, Tabanan, Gianyar, Klungkung, and Karangasem, as well as Denpasar City.

Standby-level conditions are expected in Jembrana, Bangli, and Buleleng.

Strong wind alerts are also in effect Tuesday for Denpasar, Badung, Buleleng, Karangasem, Klungkung, and Gianyar.

On Wednesday, Feb. 25, watch-level rain is forecast in Bangli, Buleleng, Jembrana, and Karangasem.

Standby-level conditions are expected in Badung, Denpasar, Tabanan, Gianyar, and Klungkung on Wednesday.

Strong wind warnings remain in place Wednesday for Denpasar, Badung, Buleleng, Karangasem, Klungkung, and Gianyar.

For Thursday, Feb. 26, watch-level rain is forecast in Karangasem, Bangli, Buleleng, Gianyar, Klungkung, and Jembrana.

Standby-level conditions are expected Thursday in Badung, Denpasar, and Tabanan.

Strong wind alerts continue Thursday for Denpasar, Badung, Buleleng, Karangasem, Klungkung, and Gianyar.

Wind speeds on Feb. 24-25 are forecast to reach up to 45 kilometers per hour, while wave heights in southern Bali waters could reach four meters on Tuesday and three meters on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, rain is forecast at tourist destinations including Nusa Dua, Kuta, Tanah Lot, Sanur, Ubud, Bedugul, Kintamani, and Besakih, with thunderstorms expected at night in Nusa Dua, Kuta, and Sanur.
