Ex-NASA astronaut claims UFOs are actually demonic beings hiding in plain sight
An Apollo moonwalker has chillingly claimed that UFOs are actually evil spirits sent by the devil to trick humanity. Charles Duke, 91, insists mysterious craft spotted in our skies are not alien visitors from distant galaxies, but sinister forces straight out of the Bible.
The moon-landing veteran, who walked on the lunar surface during NASA's Apollo 16 mission in 1972, dropped the sensational theory during an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN). Pointing to scripture, Duke referenced 2 Corinthians 11:14 to back up his terrifying claim that mankind is being systematically deceived by dark forces.
"The Lord says what we're seeing is real, but the devil can appear as an angel of light, the Bible says," Duke said.
He added that mysterious flying objects are specifically designed to strip people of their faith and lure them into obsessing over fake extraterrestrials instead. "UFOs are trying to turn us away from the truth," he said. "They're demonic."
The former astronaut revealed he has held the bizarre belief for years after asking God for a specific sign to confirm his fears.
Duke claimed he prayed for a close friend, a business associate who had never spoken about aliens, to randomly bring up the topic at breakfast the next morning.
According to the spaceman, his prayers were answered immediately when his friend greeted him the following day saying: "Charlie, come on over. I want to start talking to you about UFOs."
He took the spooky coincidence as proof that UFOs have a demonic origin. Duke's shocking claims mirror the biblical warning from the Apostle Paul, who cautioned followers about deceitful forces masquerading as holy figures.
The veteran's terrifying theory comes as a wave of high-profile figures embrace supernatural explanations for UFOs.
US Vice President JD Vance previously suggested that powerful supernatural beings could easily fool humans by looking like technologically advanced aliens.
Meanwhile, controversial commentator Tucker Carlson told The Joe Rogan Experience podcast: "They're from here, and they've been here for thousands of years, whatever they are." He added: "And it's pretty clear to me that they're 'spiritual entities,' whatever that means."
However, not everyone agrees with the moonwalker's apocalyptic vision. Father Lee Taylor, a UK vicar who leads three churches in North Wales, hit back at claims that sky craft are inherently evil.
He pointed to passages in Genesis, Ezekiel, and Jesus' statement that "in my Father's house are many rooms" as evidence that God's universe could simply be far bigger than we realise.
"A bigger universe, or the discovery of a bigger universe, doesn't make God smaller," the ordained vicar told the Daily Mail. "It just makes creation bigger."
Warning that branding UFOs as satanic causes unnecessary panic, Father Taylor added: "I don't think it's a challenge to faith. I think it's a challenge to the limits of our theological imagination. I think a larger universe demands a larger theology.
"I don't think it's the most helpful framework for discussing an unknown phenomenon. It can encourage people to project fear or certainty onto something we don't yet understand."
